Mars is considered a planet of energy, aggression, and independence. When placed in relationship-governing houses, classical astrology suggests its intense energy can disrupt marital harmony. However, the degree of impact depends heavily on Mars's sign, its exact degree, aspects, and many cancellation factors.
Which Houses Cause Manglik Dosha?

Cancellation of Manglik Dosha (Dosha Parihara)
Classical astrology recognises several conditions that can nullify or significantly reduce Manglik Dosha. These are called Dosha Parihara (parihara = remedy/cancellation):
- Double Manglik: If both partners have Manglik Dosha, the two doshas are said to cancel each other out. This is the most commonly cited exception in South Indian astrology.
- Mars in own sign: Mars in Aries (Mesha) or Scorpio (Vrischika) is considered to partially cancel the dosha.
- Mars in exaltation: Mars in Capricorn (Makara) is exalted and behaves positively.
- Jupiter's aspect: If Jupiter (Guru) aspects Mars or the 7th house, the malefic effect is greatly reduced.

Traditional Vedic texts associate the following with uncorrected Manglik Dosha in the context of marriage:

- In extreme cases (particularly 8th house Mars without any cancellation), health issues for the spouse
- Financial stress related to marriage or after marriage

- Kumbh Vivah: A symbolic ritual marriage to a peepal tree, banana tree, or silver idol of Vishnu before the actual wedding. This is believed to absorb the dosha.
- Hanuman Puja: Regular worship of Lord Hanuman (especially on Tuesdays) is widely recommended since Hanuman is associated with Mars energy used positively.
- Chanting Mangal Mantra: Reciting "Om Angarakaya Namah" or the Navagraha mantra for Mars 108 times on Tuesdays.
