Understanding Your Kundali Matching Score
A score of 18 or more is considered the minimum threshold for proceeding with a marriage proposal in most traditions. A score of 24–32 indicates a good and harmonious match. Scores above 32 are rare and considered exceptionally compatible.
Note: A high Guna score does not guarantee a happy marriage, and a lower score does not guarantee an unhappy one. Many astrologers consider the overall horoscope strength, Navamsha chart, Dasha period, and Manglik status alongside the Guna score.
What is Nadi Dosha?
Nadi Dosha is the most serious condition in Kundali matching. It occurs when both the bride and groom have the same Nadi — Adi (first), Madhya (middle), or Antya (last). Since Nadi is worth 8 points, having the same Nadi results in a score of 0 for this koota and is traditionally considered a serious incompatibility, particularly related to health of the couple and difficulties with having children.
However, Nadi Dosha can be cancelled under certain conditions:
- When the Moon Nakshatra of both partners is the same but the Moon sign (Rashi) is different
- When the Moon signs are the same but the Nakshatras are different
- When one or both partners have the Moon in a Nakshatra owned by the same planet (same Nakshatra Pada)
What is Bhakoot Dosha?
Bhakoot Dosha occurs when the Moon signs of the bride and groom fall in certain adverse relationships — specifically 6/8 (Shashtashtaka) or 2/12 (Dwirdwadasha) from each other. Bhakoot Dosha is associated with financial difficulties and health problems after marriage. It can be cancelled if the lords of both Moon signs are friendly to each other.
